Skinny Girl Margarita Recipe

what's in a skinny girl margarita

Today I’m going to be covering the “Skinny Girl Margarita”, one of the countless variations of the margarita. The history behind the margarita is colorful and shrouded in myth, and I love to discuss the various myths behind drinks when I post up recipes.  However, most people agree that the drink originated in the first half of the 20th century in Mexico.  For this one, I’ll be telling the story of Majorie King.  The myth of the day lies in the Rancho Del Gloria Bar at Rosarita Beach, Mexico.  Supposedly, one of the showgirls named Majorie King asked for a tequila drink and the bartender Danny Herrera mixed premium tequila with ice, Triple sec and lime in order to make the first margarita in the world.  However, the most popular story around margarita right now is that Dallas socialite Margarita Sames invented this drink in Cliffside party at Acapulco in the year 194.

What is a Skinny girl Margarita?

The Margarita is inherently a high calorie drink, but as with any food or beverage, the final calorie count depends on the ingredients used for the drink. A typical recipe for a margarita may contain as much as500 calories. As a result, this low calorie margarita is becoming the preferred choice for many people worldwide since it contains less calories than the usual recipe. This low calorie margarita drink is known as the skinny girl margarita - a warm drink with all the qualities of the classic recipe, but contains less triple sec in order to keep a check on the calorie. The skinny girl margarita is the preferred choice of margarita for women looking to maintain their figures. Triple sec is removed from the skinny girl, which heavily slashes down the calories. Instead, agave nectar is mixed with the tequila as a substitute for triple sec in this variation

Place some coarser salt on a plate, then place the glass on the plate. The rim of the glass should be moistened in order to dip it in the salt. Mix the clear premium tequila with lime juice and agave nectar in the cocktail shaker. Add some ice in order to make the drink frozen. Then put the lid on the cocktail shaker. Shake the drink until the ingredients of the drink is well mixed. After that pour the drink in the glass and served it chilled. Garnish it with a lemon slice and enjoy.

As the world becomes gripped in another diet and health craze, the mix continues to grow in popularity. People who are especially health conscious should choose this low calorie drink over the classic recipe in order to take their daily caloric intake low.   In any case, a the drink is never a poor choice to serve as a party cocktail, and will always be a staple.
